ECOncrete® is an interdisciplinary company with a unique blend of scientists, engineers, designers, entrepreneurs, and business experts.
The ECOncrete® technology was developed by SeArc - Ecological Marine Consulting. The company was officially founded in 2012 by Dr. Shimrit Perkol-Finkel and Dr. Ido Sella, renowned marine biologists with vast international experience in the ecology and biology of artificial habitats and urban marine environments.
ECOncrete® technologies are scientifically based and professionally evaluated.
An in-house concrete laboratory headed by concrete specialists and geologists continuously tests ECOncrete®'s products, durability, strength and safety, providing a sound basis for ECOncrete® 's success.
CEO and Chief Scientist
Shimrit Perkol-Finkel has over 10 years of experience in the field of Marine Biology and Ecology, in particular the design, evaluation and monitoring of artificial habitats and urban marine environments.
Shimrit is also a partner in SeArc – Ecological Marine Consulting, a marine ecology consulting firm, where she has gained extensive technical experience in sustainable management of urban marine structures, conservation and rehabilitation of species and habitat, and planning and execution of monitoring programs.
Shimrit holds a B.Sc. in Life Sciences, M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Zoology, all from Tel-Aviv University.
Founder and CTO
Ido Sella is a professional biologist with over 8 years of experience in the field of Marine Biology and Ecology, in particular development of cultivation methods of marine invertebrates. Ido, also partner at SeArc – Ecological Marine Consulting, is the main inventor in a number of biological inventions, and both his M.Sc. thesis and Ph.D. dissertation were patented by Tel- Aviv University and are in the process of commercialization.
Ido holds a B.Sc. in Life Sciences, M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Zoology, all from Tel-Aviv University.
Ronen Azouri serves as a director in the Israeli ILGBC specializing in finance and economical solutions. Ronen followed and supported ECOncrete® since the beginning and serves as a director in the company.
Ronen together with his brother Alon - the Azouri brothers, are real-estate developers with over 55 years of experience focusing and specializing in ecological solutions which support economical models. In the past 7 years the brothers introduced Israel with its first LEED Gold certified office ECOTOWER.
Michael Simoni is the Company's specialist in construction material technology.
Michael Simoni has over 19 years of experience in the field of construction materials technology and quality assurance, in particular the design, testing and evaluation of concrete and its components.
Michael is a partner and a managing director in AFEC (Applications For Excellent Construction) group of companies, which provides design, manufacture, marketing of concrete and masonry admixtures and additives, and a wide range of technical support services including research and development, seminars and training programs.
Michael holds a B.Sc. in geology and mineralogy from the Ben-Gurion University in Beer Sheva.
Designer & Project Coordinator
Adi Neuman, is an industrial designer with a passion for introducing and adapting environmentally friendly solutions to conventional design and manufacturing processes.
Adi's experience includes management of large scale design projects in the public domain, such as large scale infrastructure and public transportation projects.
Adi teaches at the Industrial Design programs of Hadassah College Jerusalem and the Holon Institute of Technology.
Adi holds a B.Des in Inclusive Industrial Design from Hadassah College Jerusalem (Graduated with honors) and is a M.A. candidate in Environmental studies in the Porter School for Environmental Studies - Tel-Aviv University.
US Operation Coordinator
Dr. Andrew Rella specializes in coastal processes, climate change and shoreline protection involving nature based structures.
Andrew’s experience with living shorelines includes; being a member of the Coordinating Team of the Hudson River Sustainable Shorelines Project since 2009, consulting on pilot projects for the NJ USACE and American Littoral Society, as well as developing workshops for the Departments of Remediation and Environmental Protection. Andrew was awarded runner-up in the 2013 Change the Course Waterfront Construction Competition organized by the NYCEDC, for proposing the growth of oyster reefs on piles to strengthen the structure, reduce maintenance and increase its lifespan.
Andrew is currently the President of the student chapter of the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association at Stevens Institute of Technology, as well as a Director on the board of the national chapter.
Andrew holds a B.Eng. in Environmental Engineering, a M.Eng. in Ocean Engineering and a Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering from the Center of Maritime Systems at Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey.
